Meenan's Cove Fog

I stopped at Meenan's Cove this morning before the fog burned off. These pictures are each a blend of two images using the Orton's method. Just having fun with my camera.

Hello Stranger! I'm back!!

1, 2, and 4 cool. #3 - I don't know...something about it is not to my taste...I think it is the fact the focal point is to the right of the frame. I do like the added blur (I'm assuming...) but #3 seems to have some haloing. As usual, stellar shots and I'm jealous because I know I couldn't snap a shot half as good as your worst. :)

Did you shoot any of the Dragon Boat festival? I didn't get there. :( I'd like to have gone. I'm considering going uptown Tuesday night to shoot the car cruise. We'll see. My back has been bothering and schleping my gear around may not be in my best interest. I'll be glad when Baby Rule is old enough to caddy for me!!

Hey there Mrs Rule;

How very observant you are. There are two ways to do the Orton's effect. In #1, #2, and #4 I choose to duplicate a single image and applied the Gaussian blur to the second image. I tried combining the two images I took but the halos were way too much. In image #3 I combined two images, one in focus, the other out of focus in Photoshop. The out of focus image is why there is a 'halo'. Most visible around the brighter parts of the image. The focal point is spot on the sailboat but the out of focus image may give the impression of a focus shift. I used a tripod, manual focus, and everything. The heavy fog completely hid the background which is what I was having been checking the Cove for in the mornings now for some time.

Did I share this link with you before?

Not everyone likes this effect but to me these pictures were shouting for the Orton treatment even before I got my camera out of the case and released the shutter.

I did not make it to the Dragon Boat Festival. I just didn't feel like it for some reason.
